Asa Hutchinson on Wednesday signed into law a measure easing the state's restrictions on the use of deadly force in self-defense, but urged conservatives who pushed for the legislation to pass a hate crimes proposal they've so far resisted.The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold its annual spring auction April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Auction Solutions, 7803 Military Ave., Omaha, Nebraska. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Items up for auction include more than 600 firearms, bows, gun barrels, scopes and other assorted equipment. The group New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence is teaming up with the Las Cruces Public Department to host a drive-thru gun buyback event this month. It is scheduled to be held Saturday, March 13 at the East Mesa Public Safety Complex at 550 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to organizers.Wyoming lawmakers will consider a new law allowing people with concealed carry permits to take guns into areas where firearms were previously prohibited, such as schools and legislative meetings. House Bill 117 and Senate File 67 would repeal gun-free zones in government meetings, public schools, public university buildings and professional athletic events. Only those with state-issued concealed carry permits would be legally allowed to carry guns in those areas.

A California man who drove into a crowd of Black Lives Matter protesters in May was collecting weapons and planned to transform his family vineyard into a civil disobedience ‘training camp’, federal authorities allege. Benjamin Jong Ren Hung, 28, was arrested on September 23 and charged with conspiring to violate firearms laws after he allegedly organized to transport weapons across state lines from Oregon to California. He had previously been arrested on May 31 after he allegedly drove his truck loaded with weapons into a crowd of peaceful demonstrators gathered in Pasadena. Hung, who comes from a wealthy Californian family, had been on the lookout for BLM protesters to intentionally target with his truck, the federal complaint says. According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court, Hung drove his white Dodge Ram adorned with flags associated with far-right extremist groups at the crowd of about 150 protesters.  [full article]
