Nat’l – Opinion – We Hear You: Students and Parents ‘Need to Take a Hard Look at Themselves’ Before Banning Guns

DAILY SIGNAL.COM April 22, 2018 –  Here is my 79-year observation of what I believe are the main keys to the self-destruction of today’s young people and why everything seems so out of control. Students on the streets protesting school shootings and bullying issues and proposing the banning of guns need to understand that solving these problems goes both ways and the situation did not happen overnight.

MO – Opinion – When students take a stand on guns, teachers are stuck on the sidelines

KANSAS CITY STAR  April 19, 2018 – I teach high school kids how to read, write and think. They are the reason I work with my curriculum content every day in the school year. And I love my content. What I do not love is the fear that my kids live with. What I do not love is that I have to partake in active shooter drills and think…

Nat’l –Opinion – ENOUGH: Town Hall On New Gun Control Measures Met With Intense Opposition…In Blue Delaware?

TOWNHALL.COM April 18, 2018 – Delaware is a blue state. So, it should come to no one’s surprise that Delaware is considering enacting a bump stock ban, a ban on military-style rifles, limiting magazine sizes to ten rounds, and increasing the age for firearm sales to age 21. Well, residents of The First State have had enough. In a recent town hall event, which featured Democratic and Republican lawmakers, there…

Liberal Indoctrination on Campus Isn’t Working

NATIONAL REVIEW.COM  April 18, 2018 – Before I left for college orientation, I remember my dad warning me: “Don’t let them turn you into one of those blue-haired social-justice warriors.” His worry was not unfounded; across the country, Republicans are agonizing that college campuses have become hotbeds of liberal indoctrination. But my story should give them hope.

FL – Opinion – What does the Second Amendment’s ‘well regulated’ really mean? (VIDEO)

GPP Editor’s Note: Welcome to Comedy Central, Florida Branch.

SUN-SENTINEL.COM  April 12, 2018 – The interpretation of two words should be simple, shouldn’t it. On the surface, the answer is yes. Except, in this case, this surface can be a bit on the thorny side because we are talking about the Second Amendment. And the two words are: “well regulated.” The 27-word amendment reads: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary…

The Other Border Problem: American Guns Going to Mexico

NEW YORK TIMES April 11, 2018 – CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico — On a sun-scorched prison patio in this sprawling border town, a 23-year-old inmate calmly explained to me how he trafficked hundreds of guns a year from the United States to Mexico. He never bothered paying American citizen straw buyers to purchase the weapons for him, he said. Instead, he would go to one of the many weekend gun…

Movement for gun control needs more focus, direction

THE DAILY TROJAN.COM  April 10, 2018 – Social movements rise and fall on the backs of their leaders. For USC students taking part in the ongoing gun control movement, that might be grounds for pessimism. There is evidence to suggest the current student-led gun control movement will not lead to significant policy change or the election of more anti-gun politicians because its leaders demonize the opposition and lack clear…

Ramesh Ponnuru, Bloomberg View: Pro-gun crowd simply more likely to vote

WACO TRIBUNE.COM  April 9, 2018 – Since 1999, federal law on guns has become more permissive. A ban on assault weapons expired in 2004. Polling from both Gallup and CBS suggests that public support for the ban has fallen during this period, too. Support for a more sweeping measure banning all handguns had already been declining for decades by 1999. It has kept falling since then. And those municipal…

Don’t repeal the Second Amendment – read it

ORLANDO SENTINEL.COM  April 9, 2018 – Retired Justice John Paul Stevens says we should repeal the Second Amendment. I suggest something much easier: Read what it says. I own a weapon. This handgun, purchased many years ago, was withheld for several days, a cooling-off period required at the time. I registered the weapon with the dealer. I have no concerns whatsoever about the gun being identifiable by authorities who…

PA – Opinion – Guns vs. Cars? They’re unrelated

THE DAILY COLLEGIAN.COM  April 9, 2018 – Any time the gun debate comes up after an incident, it seems like everything in the news brings the conversation back to it. Just the other day, a driver in Germany drove a camper van into a group of people sitting outside a restaurant. I looked at a couple of the posts about it that were trending on Facebook and you can…

Nat’l – Opinion – Read This To Understand Why People Think It’s Rational To Support Gun Rights

THE FEDERALIST.COM April 5, 2018 – As someone who has seen the debate from the gun control perspective and lacks any personal history that might create a bias toward permissive gun laws yet nevertheless disagrees with the ban, register, and repeal triad, I think I can help, not to illuminate the proper gun policy, but in explaining how the other faction thinks.

AL – Opinion – As David Hogg picks fights, respond like an adult on gun policy

AL.COM April 2, 2018 – When I see the anger flowing through Parkland survivor David Hogg, I don’t like it. Pain is extremely powerful and wildly difficult to handle. Preventing righteous indignation from devolving into reckless outrage is extremely challenging–especially for a teenager.

Nat’l – Opinion – Irrational Fear of Mass Shootings Can’t Justify Unconstitutional Gun Control

REASON.COM  April 2, 2018 – “Americans are now more likely to be shot to death than to die in a car accident,” Margaret Renkl declares in a New York Times op-ed piece calling for more gun control. Since Renkl is talking about mass shootings, which she says “are no longer so unthinkable,” the implication is that the risk of being murdered with a gun is on the rise. But that risk is…

Gun Culture Is My Culture. And I Fear for What It Has Become.

NY TIMES April 2, 2018 – Two weeks before Christmas, I had a 9-millimeter pistol concealed in my waistband and a rifle with two 30-round magazines in the passenger seat beside me. I was driving down from the mountains to meet a fellow I didn’t know at a Cracker Barrel off I-40 in the North Carolina foothills. He was looking to buy a Kel-Tec Sub-2000, and I had one…

Nat’l – Opinion – Why The Left Will Finally Admit They Want To Repeal The Second Amendment

THE FEDERALIST April 2, 2018 – As Reason magazine noted last week, a cross-section of student protesters at the March For Our Lives rally in Washington believe security is more important than constitutional rights. Now, none of the measures they claim to support would prevent crimes such as the Parkland massacre, and American kids have a better statistical chance of winning Powerball than of being a victim of a mass shooting. …

NE – Opinion – Liberals using kids to promote gun control

GRAND ISLAND INDEPENDENT April 2, 2018 – Liberals and Democrats are now using kids to fight their battles. So the left, who can’t get things done now, is now backing kids to do their dirty work to tell everyone else as to what they can do with their guns. The East and West Coasts are still mad that the middle of the country elected someone they didn’t like, so…

CA – Opinion – Community Voices: A liberal case for assault rifles

BAKERSFIELD.COM March 30, 2018 – I am on the political left. I hate the National Rifle Association. I do not own a gun. I have been a victim of firearms violence. (Shot breaking up a bar fight at the age of 20.) And I am strident supporter of keeping “assault” weapons available and leaving the Second Amendment exactly as it is. Inconsistent? Hardly. If you listen to the advocates…

Nat’l – Opinion – No, Justice Stevens, We Don’t Need to Repeal the Second Amendment

SLATE.COM March 29, 2018 – Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens is an American legal hero. On the complicated issue of guns, I have a profound disagreement with the former justice. In the wake of the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida—and the triumphant day of marches across the country that surviving students and their allies organized last weekend—Stevens’ call for young activists to work for repeal of the Second…
