Commentary: Mostly Peaceful Riots, Looting, and General Mayhem

When the means justify the ends, instead of the other way around,
America’s social future just may have a chance

We aren’t even half-way through 2020 and it’s already been a humdinger.

We started out with an impeachment, we witnessed a world war, we survived a pandemic, we forgot all about the murder hornets, and then we were treated to chaos in the streets complete with violent riots, widespread looting, demands for abolition of the police, and an autonomous zone in the middle of downtown Seattle. There have really only been two bright spots, so far, and one of them was the “Tiger King” series on Netflix. The other, of course, is what is probably the demise of the gun control movement.

Don’t get me wrong. The gun grabbers are not going to stop trying to grab your guns. In fact, the unrest and chaos of the past few months will probably cause them to believe that this is the time to strike. But the support for their cause is evaporating on the evening news and the retweeted images of destruction in the name of social justice and the demands to defund law enforcement.

“When seconds count, the police are only minutes away,” was, until this month, a valid reason to make sure you could capably take responsibility for your own protection and the defense of your property and others. Today, it’s on the verge of becoming, “When seconds count, don’t waste time dialing 911 because it’s been defunded.”

Many have gone on the counterattack against resistance to leave the public without a police force to protect and serve it, claiming that calls for defunding the police don’t mean that they want to, ummm, defund the police. But, thankfully, the fascist Left leadership which is organizing this chaos is pretty up-front about their aims, noting in the New York Times that “Yes, We Mean Literally Abolish the Police.” It was a pinch of clarity from the bad guys, along the lines of Beto’s “Hell, yes,” moment.

The liberal Left is so unhinged that they are forgetting to keep their masks on. Just like Beto finally put an end to the “No one is trying to take your gun” charade, Antifa and Black Lives Matter are putting an end to the ”we just want justice” charade. They mean to demolish our society and rebuild it to their specifications, and their specifications don’t include a public police force. Secret police, for sure. Stasi agents and SA Brownshirt thugs, of course. But they want a disarmed public combined with a heavily-armed paramilitary force backed by political will, public opinion, and a fear to resist. They aren’t looking for tolerance, they’re demanding compliance and active support. Sort of a Bolshevik Ku Klux Klan and California looking more like Somalia than anything else. Sadly, too many Americans have been playing right along with them.

Most Americans, of course, want nothing to do with any of that. Even the gullibles who are marching in the streets as you read this and are hassling those who haven’t updated their online platforms to include social justice talking points don’t want Somalia.

But since things are looking more and more like Somalia, they’re going to get a gun or three while they still can. Just in case. After all, everyone saw what happened with the toilet paper supply in March.

The gun control movement, such as it was, is probably dissolving before our very eyes. People who two months ago were still repeating President Obama’s lie that it was easier to get a gun than check out a library book have suddenly discovered that they were very badly mistaken and that the previous President was just plain lying. People who last year demanded that gun owners turn in all of their so-called “assault weapons” and “high-capacity” magazines are now worried about getting actually assaulted and not having a weapon or enough bullets.

We’ve all seen the videos of the looters. We’ve all seen the footage of the bricks through the windows and the burning. We’ve all watched in horror as Democratic mayors and governors order their law enforcement agencies to stand down while their cities are put to the torch. We all realize that next it could be our city, our business, or our homes that are targeted. We all realize that you cannot reason with unreasonable mobs, and we all realize that mobs consist of huge numbers of people that will require 30-round magazines—and a lot of them—if it really comes down to it.

Just like the COVID-19 pandemic showed how ridiculous and irrational feel-good practices like mass transit, open borders, and dependence on so-called “experts” were, the wave of “mostly peaceful” widespread violence is illustrating just how precarious any given person is when they’re waiting for the cavalry to come to the rescue. And the bad guys want to eliminate the cavalry.

Gun control as a political force is going to suffer greatly, and the reasons will the very same that gun owners have been repeating for decades. Those Koreans on their rooftops in 1992 Los Angeles weren’t an aberration…they were practically the Minute Men of this new era.
