USA TODAY October 10, 2017 –  Even gun-savvy politicians said last week they had never heard of “bump stocks” until a gunman used the rapid-fire device in Las Vegas to carry out the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. So how did these devices, which nearly everyone – including the National Rifle Association — now seems to agree should at least be regulated, go under the radar? They actually didn’t.
