Democrats are reportedly moving ahead with plans to take up President Joe Biden’s gun control proposals in the coming days and the National Rifle Association has already warned its members.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Wednesday signed into law a measure easing the state's restrictions on the use of deadly force in self-defense, but urged conservatives who pushed for the legislation to pass a hate crimes proposal they've so far resisted.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold its annual spring auction April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Auction Solutions, 7803 Military Ave., Omaha, Nebraska. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Items up for auction include more than 600 firearms, bows, gun barrels, scopes and other assorted equipment.

The group New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence is teaming up with the Las Cruces Public Department to host a drive-thru gun buyback event this month. It is scheduled to be held Saturday, March 13 at the East Mesa Public Safety Complex at 550 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to organizers.

Wyoming lawmakers will consider a new law allowing people with concealed carry permits to take guns into areas where firearms were previously prohibited, such as schools and legislative meetings. House Bill 117 and Senate File 67 would repeal gun-free zones in government meetings, public schools, public university buildings and professional athletic events. Only those with state-issued concealed carry permits would be legally allowed to carry guns in those areas.

We were camping…when a bear wandered into our area. It was about 3 am and everyone was asleep. It was most likely sniffing for food…and mistook my wife’s tent for a large rock or something, because it walked right over her in the middle of the night.

She says she woke up to something crushing her foot and when she heard it snorting and huffing, knew exactly what it was. Adrenaline kicked in and she lay perfectly still and quiet. A few seconds later it was off her, headed toward the tree where our food was.

It managed to figure out that clawing the rope would bring the bag down, and it ate all of our supplies. Fortunately, when we surveyed the damage the next morning, everyone was okay and we were only a couple miles from the car. We had to cut our trip short, but it really could have been worse.
