Democrats are reportedly moving ahead with plans to take up President Joe Biden’s gun control proposals in the coming days and the National Rifle Association has already warned its members.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson on Wednesday signed into law a measure easing the state's restrictions on the use of deadly force in self-defense, but urged conservatives who pushed for the legislation to pass a hate crimes proposal they've so far resisted.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold its annual spring auction April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Auction Solutions, 7803 Military Ave., Omaha, Nebraska. Doors will open at 8 a.m. Items up for auction include more than 600 firearms, bows, gun barrels, scopes and other assorted equipment.

The group New Mexicans to Prevent Gun Violence is teaming up with the Las Cruces Public Department to host a drive-thru gun buyback event this month. It is scheduled to be held Saturday, March 13 at the East Mesa Public Safety Complex at 550 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to organizers.

Wyoming lawmakers will consider a new law allowing people with concealed carry permits to take guns into areas where firearms were previously prohibited, such as schools and legislative meetings. House Bill 117 and Senate File 67 would repeal gun-free zones in government meetings, public schools, public university buildings and professional athletic events. Only those with state-issued concealed carry permits would be legally allowed to carry guns in those areas.

NYC – GUN CRIME – 49 People Shot In 72 Hours As Wave Of Gun Violence Continues In NYC

Forty-nine people were shot over the course of 72 hours in NYC between Thursday and Saturday, compared to eight shooting victims over the same time period last year, according to preliminary NYPD statistics sent to Gothamist Sunday morning. Eight people were murdered—at least six by gun violence—compared to three homicides last year over those three days. Those numbers do not yet reflect shootings on Sunday. But about 2 a.m. Sunday, a 47-year-old was fatally shot in the head near Parkside and Ocean Avenues in Brooklyn at the entrance of Prospect Park. The man was the ninth person in NYC murdered since Thursday. Those 49 shooting victims we shot in 38 separate incidents between August 13th and 15th, the police department said. The number of shootings rose by nearly five times—from eight to 38—compared to the same dates last year. All told, there have been 1,087 shooting victims across 888 incidents this year through August 15th, compared to 577 victims and 488 incidents last year. Homicides were up to 263 through Saturday, compared to 196 this time last year, police said Sunday. [full article]
