OH – RETAILERS – (AUDIO INCLUDED) Gun and ammo sales booming across country, locally

A combination of factors have created a perfect storm that is driving sales of firearms and ammunition to unprecedented levels. Dave LaRoche, owner of Madriver Knife and Supply, a federally licensed dealer of firearms in downtown Bellefontaine, said that an increase of gun sales during an election year is common. However, this year sales have really exploded as other factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, civil unrest and protests in various parts of the country led many people to purchase firearms. LaRoche said his previous best year of sales since he started the business was 2019 and 2020 sales eclipsed that number several months ago. “If we could get inventory, it’s hard to say where we might have ended up this year” he commented. The noticeable uptick in sales really started at the end of February and into March. “With more people being at home, I think they reconsidered their need for personal protection” LaRoche speculated. Protests and civil unrest that included rioting and looting in parts of the country only served to fuel the increased demand. The increase in demand for firearms started out with home defense type weapons, such as handguns, shotguns and AR-15’s. After those guns became hard to get, all other types of firearms started to sell quickly according to LaRoche.  [full article]
