TN – SELF-PROTECTION – Local gun safety instructors voice concern about TN governor’s Constitutional Carry proposal (VIDEO)

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s new permit less carry law has gun experts on edge. His proposed legislation would allow citizens to carry a handgun without a permit. The bill would only apply to those who are 21 years or older and would not apply in restricted areas. “Now, they will just be able to walk the streets with a loaded gun. I’m trying to be objective, but I can’t think of a reason,” Safety instructor Mark Haskins said. Haskins is a safety trainer at Shooter’s Supply Indoor Range in Hixson. He believes if people want to own a gun, they need to be properly trained and educated. “And I’ve also seen people come through and they really don’t know how the gun operates. They almost literally don’t know which end the bullet comes out of,” Haskins said. As a retired Chattanooga police officer, Haskins believes this could leave law enforcement vulnerable. “That’s one of the things I can’t see how any law enforcement officer would back this, because you are going to put more guns out there in more untrained hands,” Haskins said. Governor Lee says Tennessee would be the 17th state to adopt Constitutional Carry if it passes.  [full article]
