TX – SELF-DEFENSE – Tulsa law enforcement hosts self-defense training for women (VIDEO)

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department and the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office are partnering to offer women self-defense training. The monthly class is called Empower Tulsa and will teach women valuable skills including basic survival skills, situational awareness and having a good mindset to survive any situation.

Officer Angela Emberton and Deputy Kimber Take instructed the first class Monday afternoon at LaFortune Park Community Center. The classes will be offered the first Monday of each month from 4-6 p.m. and will be free for ages 12 and up.

TCSO Deputy Kimber Take, who has been employed with the sheriff’s office for 13 years, says she was approached by Officer Emberton to help instruct the classes. She said, “The sheriff’s office and the police department got together and we pretty well put this together pretty quickly and got a tremendous response. It was very well received by the community.” When FOX23 News asked why the high interest, Take responded, “Honestly, I think it’s something that hasn’t been done in a very long time and something women wished they had that wasn’t so difficult to access.”  [full article]
