WI – GUN CONTROL – Militia Members in Kenosha Trip Face Gun Charges: Protest Wrap

Two militia members who drove from Missouri to Kenosha, Wisconsin, with a cache of guns to see President Donald Trump’s visit are charged with illegal possession of firearms, the Associated Press reported. The two, who attended a rally for Trump supporters outside a Kenosha high school, were arrested by the FBI on Tuesday, AP reported, citing the criminal complaint. The shooting of Jacob Blake, the Black man shot multiple times on Aug. 23 in the back by a White police officer in Kenosha, triggered a new wave of protests against police brutality in the past two weeks. After Trump’s visit, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden also traveled to Wisconsin, where he met with Blake’s family. Demonstrations are also planned outside the Kentucky Derby horse race on Saturday in Louisville, where Breonna Taylor, an unarmed 26-year-old Black woman, was fatally shot at home by police in March. Protests are also brewing in the nation’s capital, where an officer shot and killed an 18-year-old Black man on Wednesday. Michael Forest Reinoehl, the prime suspect in a fatal Aug. 29 shooting during protests in Portland, Oregon, was killed in Washington state when a federal fugitive task force moved to arrest him. Four officers opened fire Thursday outside an apartment complex on Reinoehl, 48, who was thought to be armed, according to reports from the AP and New York Times. Reinoehl was suspected of shooting Aaron Danielson, 39, a Trump supporter who was part of a caravan in Portland to confront protesters.  [full article]
